To fulfill President Trump and Jack Ma’s vision of 1 million U.S. jobs through eCommerce, as discussed in January, Alibaba Group announced that it will inaugurate its effort to empower U.S. small businesses, entrepreneurs, and farmers to sell to hundreds of millions of Chinese consumers at “Gateway ’17”, a small business summit.

Alibaba’s, CEO, Jack Ma will be in attendance and will speak to an expected audience of more than 1,000 companies and individuals and many more via online streaming.  The event will also include keynote speeches from leading entrepreneurs, as well as category breakout talks, business solutions sessions, and marketplace networking opportunities to help those in attendance gain a better understanding of the Chinese consumer’s wants and needs.

Tompkins International has a truly unique and robust working relationship with Alibaba that touches on new business development, logistics, globalization strategy, marketing, and government relations.

Tompkins International’s, VP of our China/APAC and Global eCommerce Strategy Practices, Michael Zakkour, is one of the world’s foremost experts on Chinese consumers, Alibaba, and cross border eCommerce.  Zakkour will also be giving a presentation and sitting on an expert panel.

Zakkour will be a featured speaker at “Gateway ’17” where he will enlighten attendees on how to build a strategy for China cross border sales and the steps that need to be taken to launch.  A primary focus will be on logistics and supply chain planning and implementation.

Cross border eCommerce is currently a $300 billion business and this will increase to $1 Trillion USD by 2021.

Gateway ’17 is being held in Detroit, Michigan from June 20th through 21st
