Raleigh, NC, April 5, 2000—SmarterKids.com (NASDAQ: SKDS), the leading educational store on the Web, recently announced that it has chosen Tompkins Associates, the leading Total Operations consulting firm, to provide their e-fill^SM solution to integrate the operations systems for SmarterKids.com's new, fully customized fulfillment facility in Mansfield, Massachusetts.

Tompkins' unique e-fill^SM solution recognizes that the speed of back-end implementation is critical as growth curves in today's marketplace are both steep and unpredictable. e-fill^SM is a proprietary fulfillment process created to help dot.coms get functional, faster, and allows Tompkins Associates to rapidly get e-commerce clients operational with a modular, flexible and adaptable order fulfillment system.

Tompkins Associates was brought in to help Smarterkids.com determine an overall solution for their fulfillment operations, including choosing the location of the new DC, developing an overall warehouse and distribution solution, integrating the new DC's operations system and meeting customer and seasonality needs to provide their customers with exceptional performance.

Slated to open this month, the state-of-the-art facility is being built to ensure maximum productivity, and will employ approximately 70 individuals at the height of the holiday season.
